Clifford Faxon Vaught, Jr.

July 8, 1932 – December 16, 2016

On December 16, 2016, Clifford (Cliff) Faxon Vaught went to be with his Lord and Savior.  He was born on July 8, 1932, in Indianapolis, IN, to Dorothea and Clifford F. Vaught, Sr. He grew up on the near east side of Indianapolis and attended Arsenal Technical High School graduating in June of 1950.

Following graduation Clifford married Phyllis J. Young, with whom he had two daughters, Karen (Warren) Evans, of Arlington, TX, and Robin (Steve) Ellenbecker, of Aurora, CO.  He has five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Clifford considered himself an entrepreneur, and at one time owned and operated Action Real Estate Agency.  He also enjoyed sales and later in his career he joined the staff at CompUSA till he retired.

After retiring, Cliff became a ham radio enthusiast.  He used his talent with communication radios to volunteer and join other operators in tracking high school weather balloons, which had been launched into near space.  His other hobby was fishing at lakes around the state of Indiana along with trips in Canada.

In April 1975, he married his beloved wife, Sarah Smith.  Both were members of Walnut Grove Chapel where he enjoyed singing in the church choir.  Throughout the years, they welcomed and hosted many missionaries from Brazil.   For most of their lives together, Cliff and Sarah mailed out Our Daily Bread devotionals to believers and nonbelievers alike, all over the world.

Clifford was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sarah, his parents, and his only brother, Robert (Joyce) Vaught.

A graveside memorial and burial for Clifford F. Vaught will be held on Saturday, March 25th, 2017, 1:00 p.m.  at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 9700 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46250.

Memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan’s Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, N.C.  28607.
